Description

I will present on identifying lagging skills in students and providing direct instruction, modifications and accommodations to increase skill development. Looking at the entire student is key to making an identification of what specific skills are lagging. Students are often labeled or identified by their behaviors, and the approach to changing the behavior is centered around what that behavior looks like. As part of a multi-disciplinary team we have to gather all the pieces of information to make an educated plan in serving the student. A student must have needs met and feel safe before we create interventions. This applies to all students. Using this approach to meet the varying needs of all students increases student outcomes by eliminating barriers to their success. This is not a one size fits all.
